Natural Areas Event: Eagle Watch

Where: Fossil Creek Reservoir - Approximate address is 3340 Carpenter Road. The entrance to Fossil Creek Reservoir Natural Area is on Carpenter Road/ CR 32, approximately one mile west of I-25, or two miles east of Timberline on the north side of Carpenter Road; When: January 19, 3:00pm - 4:30pm, drop-in at any time during the program Accessibility: Accessible parking and restrooms available. Spotting scopes and best eagle viewing are located about 1/4 - 1/2 mile down a gently sloping, paved and ADA accessible trail. What to Bring: Pets are not permitted at Fossil Creek Reservoir Natural Area. Please bring binoculars if you have them and dress warmly. Program Description: Bald eagles from the north make Fort Collins their winter home. They spend nights in communal roosts in cottonwood trees near the reservoir. Volunteer Naturalists are stationed at the viewing pier and explain the eagles’ natural history and help visitors view them through spotting scopes and binoculars. Drop in any time during these programs. They are free and no registration is required, but if you sign up here you'll receive email reminders and notices of cancellations. If temperatures are below freezing, or it’s windy or foggy, the Eagle Watches may be canceled. Be sure to visit www.fcgov.com/naturalareas for weather cancellations and updates before you go. Masks will not be required, as this is an outdoor event. However, please practice physical distancing whenever possible. Stay home if you are sick.

The entrance to Fossil Creek Reservoir Natural Area is on Carpenter Road/ CR 32, approximately one mile west of I-25, or two miles east of Timberline on the north side of Carpenter Road; When: January 19, 7:00pm - 9:00pm, drop-in at any time during the program Accessibility: All activities take place in a paved parking lot. Very little walking required, accessible parking and restrooms available. What to Bring: Dress for temperatures 20 degrees cooler than the actual temperature and bring a blanket or chair to sit on. Meet in the parking lot. Pets are not permitted at Fossil Creek Reservoir Natural Area. Please bring binoculars if you have them! It will make star viewing easier. Program Description: Volunteers from the Northern Colorado Astronomical Society provide telescopes and share their knowledge about the stars, planets, galaxies, and more. The Gardens at Spring Creek Event: Tai Chi in The Gardens

Tai Chi is a traditional Chinese system of body movement that has been cherished over the centuries for its beneficial impact on the health of the heart, bones, nerves, muscles, immune system and the mind.  Often referred to as “meditation in motion,” Tai Chi is widely practiced around the world, preferably in a beautiful outdoor setting. 

The Gardens on Spring Creek is delighted to collaborate with John Broderick, student of Min Fan, to offer our members and community this special outdoor class, suitable for all levels.

Note for Participants: Classes are taught outside and shade is available but limited. Please check the weather and plan accordingly for your comfort and safety during the practice.

Classes will be capped at 25 participants.  Please check in through the main entrance. Class registration includes Gardens admission.  Click the date to register for that class.

Drawing is the fundamental skill to mastering all other mediums. It allows us to create the subject matter on to paper; proportions, perspective and shading to create a subject full of life! Students from beginner to advanced will enjoy this class as we build confidence learning the tricks of the trade using natural mediums, specifically graphite, natural pigments and charcoal.

The exhibition sheds light on the intricate interplay between humanity and the environment.

 

These works hold profound reflections on the vulnerability and resilience of our ecosystem. The mark making of each artist captures diverse terrains, while unveiling the inherent fragility these environments embody.
