Timber Trail Reroute Work Day - Meet at the Dixon Reservoir Parking Lot of Pineridge Natural Area, off of Hwy 42C. Come work with the Trails and Visitor Amenities team to help us accomplish our Timber Trail Reroute. This work will give you a first hand experience on what it is like finishing tread behind a machine, integration of rock tread and features into the trail corridor and hardening the trails drainage points to allow the trail to remain open and stable for years to come. With this being an active construction zone, you will see all the steps our team takes to construct sustainable trail. This work is for everyone to come out and see, with finishing of tread work by swinging picks and grading the tread surface to rock work that will stabilize the tread surface for years to come, we will have an opportunity for beginners to advanced users alike to feel like they made a lasting impact. Bring: Closed-toe, sturdy shoes; sun protection, and a water bottle!

Come learn the meditative practice of cleaning native plant seeds with Nature in the City Staff. We will be cleaning a wide variety of seeds for the annual Native Seed Swap. No prior experience needed and all materials will be provided. You will be sitting and using various small tools to separate and sort seeds. We will meet for this activity in the Nix Main Office at 1745 Hoffman Mill Rd.

When: 5:00p.m. - 10:00p.m., meet at the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery for van transportation. (activity time includes travel to and from Soapstone). Program Description: Explore North America’s rarest mammal. Meet at the Fort Collins Museum of Discovery for a presentation about black-footed ferrets at the exhibit in the lobby. Then travel together to Soapstone (about a one- hour drive). Then hike and search for this elusive resident on one of the prairie dog colonies where they have been reintroduced. Accessibility: The beginning of the program takes place in an accessible picnic shelter. There is accessible parking and an accessible bathroom at the north parking lot. During the second half of the program, we will be walking 1-2 miles in the dark under uneven ground through a prairie dog colony. What to Bring: Dress appropriately for the weather forecast.
