For example: fcgov.com/feeds/events/?end_date=20260701 would list events from today's date till the 1st of July, 2026.

Join our inaugural group of garden volunteers helping to maintain and beautify the garden around Annie the Railroad Dog’s garden and the newly seeded detention basin at Transfort’s Downtown Transit Center. We welcome adult volunteers of all abilities, no horticultural experience necessary. Gloves, tools and water are provided. While no special skills are required, the role will require bending, kneeling, stooping and navigating uneven surfaces.
Through a 2025 Nature in the City grant, Transfort and Planning Services refreshed the garden around Annie the Railroad Dog’s historic grave. New irrigation was installed and the garden was planted with low-water-use pollinator species. The detention basin was re-seeded in the fall of 2025 and will need regular maintenance to allow the native plants and grasses to establish. The garden volunteers will help ensure these newly refreshed spaces function as designed and allow the plants to establish. This will benefit pollinators and the local community, serving as a naturalized space in the urban downtown corridor.
Key Responsibilities:
Garden maintenance including weeding, planting, and irrigation.
General garden upkeep.

Program Topic: Did you know that Fort Collins is home to one of the largest firefly populations in Colorado? Come see what makes it such a great place to live and spot some of our local, native fireflies. Bring a flashlight if you wish, but there's often enough natural light that you don't need one!
This is a very popular program. If you have attended in the past, please let first comers have an opportunity to sign up first. If you end up on the waitlist for this program and/or want additional information about the firefly species and conservation efforts to protect them, please see the resources below from the Butterfly Pavilion to learn more.
Accessibility: Program takes place on dirt trails. Mostly easy, slightly uneven terrain. Accessible bathroom available near parking lot. Off-road wheelchairs or those with sturdy wheels should be able to navigate the trails. Hike will be up to 1 mile; easy.
What to Bring: Dress appropriately for the weather forecast with layers for when the sun sets. Bring bug spray, a headlamp, closed-toe, sturdy shoes, and water. And bug spray (important enough to say twice!)

By participating in this event, you acknowledge and consent to the City of Fort Collins using your image and likeness on its social media accounts and publications.
