Lincoln Center Event: Painting LC Live

Thu, 2024-10-31 00:00

The Lincoln Center’s LC Live presents the best professional artists, national-touring Broadway shows, A-list comedians and skilled entertainers in the region. To celebrate the beginning of our 2024–2025 season, we have invited 5 artists to paint murals in the Art Gallery inspired by the performances.

Come see Fort Collins public artists paint 8-foot murals on canvas inside the Art Gallery. Each mural will be inspired by a LC Live show that will be playing during the exhibit. In October, while the artists are painting, see if you can match the mural with the show that inspired it. In November, when the murals are done, come back to see if you were right.

Lincoln Center Event: National Geographic Live: Wild Wolves of Yellowstone

Thu, 2024-10-31 00:00

This presentation is part of the National Geographic Live Speaker Series. Join us as expert Nat Geo Explorers share their personal stories of working with awe-inspiring wildlife.

Yellowstone National Park’s two million acres of wilderness contain many stories, including one of the best case studies in wildlife conservation. Doug Smith led the project that reintroduced gray wolves to Yellowstone in the 1990s. Go behind the scenes—including never-before-seen photos and videos—of the quest to bring wolves back and the incredible changes that happened after they arrived.

Guest lecturer Doug Smith served as a wildlife biologist at Yellowstone National Park for nearly three decades and studied everything from beavers to birds. Most importantly, he led the Yellowstone Wolf Project, which reintroduced gray wolves to the park. He’s written numerous scientific publications and has been featured in four National Geographic television specials. He has also written and edited several books about the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem, including the 2023 book: Yellowstone’s Birds: Diversity and Abundance in the World’s First National Park.
